The inception of the foundation was inspired by the founder Alexa Dolmo's journey through mental health challenges and the necessity of pursuing her own healing in the face of limited resources and financial constraints.

 

The name "Catalina" honors Alexa’s grandmother, who was a healer within the Garifuna community, and devoted herself to the well-being of others through holistic medicine.
